That Went Quick!
It’s really hard to believe that it’s already been a full school year for the kids. They’ve really grown in so many ways since September. They’ve learned a lot although the big changes have mostly been social, I think. Chloe has developed close friendships with some of her classmates and grown closer to her friends in the neighborhood. Her new obsession is talking on the phone and via messaging with them. She loves to communicate!
Gabriel has definitely found his own “voice” independent from his sister and made his own friends even though they’ve been in the same classroom.
When talking to them before bed last evening, both kids asked if they have to be in the same class in first grade. They’re definitely craving their separation and hopefully the school can accommodate this next year.
When we asked Chloe how her last day of school was, she said her eyes got teary when she said goodbye to her teacher because she’s going to miss her so much. I hope Ms. Barrett enjoyed our kids as much as they liked having her this year because she’s retiring after this academic year.
Now it’s time for summer!

Flying down the slide!
I love this shot of Chloe going down the slide at Modick Park in Hopatcong. It’s quite a steep slide and her hair is flying out behind her while her face shows how surprised she was. It had been a while since we were at the park so I guess she forgot about how fast it was.

For our 11th wedding anniversary, Robyn and I decided to head into NYC again this year. I made a dinner reservation at Bond 45 for 7:30 but we had Gram come watch the kids at 3 o’clock so we could leave early and walk around. Here’s Robyn showing off her hot little dress on her “new” body. Amazing!
The first thing we noticed right after we parked the car was that it was much more windy than we had expected. Robyn did wear smart shoes this time but she was also wearing a dress so she was freezing. The first place we went was a store so Robyn could get some pants. After trying on a few pair, she purchased one and put them on under her dress. She’s so ingenious! We headed back out and walked all over Times Square. For a place that gets so much attention from the world, there’s not a whole lot to do in Times Square unless you want to shop. We went into a bunch of different places and bough the kids some stuff from the M&M Store.
Dinner was pretty good – not great. There was no comparison to last year’s feast although we did have a delicious meringue cake for dessert and I had a tasty Malbec with our meal. After dinner we walked south to the Empire State Building where we looked up and saw the full Moon overhead. It was a beautiful sight that’s definitely not fully captured in the photo above. We headed back to the car since things were closing up for the night. All-in-all, we had a good time out on the town.

This winter has been much more “wintry” than last year. We’ve had a couple decent snow storms and it’s been really cold for days on end. When it hasn’t been freezing out, it seems like it’s been raining or crazy windy. All this makes me look forward to green grass and warmer weather in the Spring. Bring it on!
